Once King Rukmangada started a practice of announcing publicly to people to observe fasting on Ekadasi and citizens fail to fast on this day would be punishable. The citizens started observing the Vrat, performed puja with strict observance between the age group of eight and eighty-five years, skipped their food on the day and devoted to fast. According to King Rukmangada the law was enforced and almost all citizen became the devotees of Lord Vishnu. Following this Lord Yama job became free from his duty, Lord Chitragupta went jobless. Lord Narada had given a golden mango to Lord Shiva, when Lord Shiva found seated with Goddess Parvati, his children’s Lord Vinayaka and Lord Subramanya. While giving the fruit to Lord Shiva he advised him that this fruit is a supernatural miraculous fruit which is called a ‘Gnanapalam’ and told him that it is a fruit of great wisdom. But the content was true and it was Lord Narada’s intention to get Lord Subramanya to the place of Palani who is only one who had the power of healing to clear the disease spread and to cure all incurable disease namely leprosy, cholera, smallpox, addiction, poisoning, infection, age-dependent bodily dysfunctions by the energy of Lord Muruga and this is where Sage Bogar could use herbs and medicinal properties blesses all devotees to clear skin disease, poisonous bites, sure remedy of all ailments, bless knowledge, skills, source of life experience, learnings, master astrology, medicine, yoga, divine powers, abundance of prosperity.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Lord Ulagalantha Perumal and his consort Goddess Lakshmi as Goddess Amudavalli.
